SPIDERCAM

The spidercam® is a computerised cable camera system und has been around for more than ten years now. From the original, first spidercam® to today’s models the system underwent several changes and improvements, but the principle remained the same.

Principle

The dolly, a camera transporting device, is held by four lifting cables. Those cables each run through a Pulley in the corner of the Flying area and are attached to a Motor Winch on the ground. By controlling the Winches the cable can be wound and unwound, effectively moving the dolly through the flying area – in all three dimensions. The control station acts as the input device for all commands; by utilizing two joysticks the Pilot operates the Winch commands und thus the dolly, while the Camera Operator controls the Pan-Tilt-Unit and the camera functions.

What is Skycam

An Innovative Technology

The Skycam system is virtually a flying Steadicam®. It is a broadcast quality, robotic camera, suspended from a cable-driven, computerized transport system.
Its unique design makes the Skycam the only stabilized camera system in the world that can unobtrusively fly anywhere in a defined three-dimensional space, right in the middle of a sporting event.
