Filmfestival Videoclub Vilvoorde organiseert eigen 'Oscars'

Vergeet Cannes en de Oscars. De videoclub van Vilvoorde organiseerde zaterdag haar jaarlijkse filmfestival. Vier nieuwe speelfilms, documentaires, computeranimaties en korte reportages werden er vertoond in het Auditorium van het Cultureel Centrum Bolwerk. Het filmfestival werd geopend met de film Mixed History. Alle voorgestelde producties zijn door leden van de Vilvoordse videoclub gemaakt.

Voorzitter en oprichter Johan Leemans kijkt voldaan terug op de 40e editie van zijn geesteskindje. “Eén keer per jaar worden producties van leden tentoongesteld aan geïnteresseerden. Alle filmgenres worden in de videoclub beoefend: toeristische films, documentaires, familiefilms, speelfilms, computeranimatie... Op het filmfestival was er dus een ruime keuze uit speelfilms, documentaires, computeranimaties en korte reportages. In totaal kwamen ongeveer 80 bezoekers langs”.

Geheime leven van Karmelietessen

Mixed History - een film over een evenement in Borgloon rond gevechten over de eeuwen heen - mocht het filmfestival dit jaar openen. Een andere opvallende film was die over de kloosterzusters van de Karmelietessen in Vilvoorde. Voor het eerst toonden de zusters van de geheimzinnige kloosterorde uit Vilvoorde een inkijk in hun leven.

Programma van de maand…

LET OP !!!

Onze club vergadert normaal elke tweede en derde woensdag van de maand maar dit keer wordt het de eerste en de vierde woensdag, dit om reden van het PAASVERLOF.
Het Paasverlof gaat in op zaterdag 6 april 2019 tot en met maandag 22 april 2019.
Tijdens verlofperiodes mag niet worden vergaderd in het Cultureel Centrum.

Woensdag 3 april 2019 om 20 uur in ons lokaal aan de Bolwerkstraat 17 te Vilvoorde is er FILMVERGADERING.
Op het programma staat:

“550 jaar karmelietessen in Vilvoorde”, de documentaire (65 minuten) van Johan Leemans over de zusters van de Troost in Vilvoorde. Deze film ging in première op vrijdag 15 februari 2019, in de namiddag in het klooster en 's avonds op het stadhuis van Vilvoorde.

We bekijken vanavond alleen het eerste deel (32 minuten), dat bestaat uit:

de oorsprong van de karmel
een korte geschiedenis van de locatie in Vilvoorde
het kloosterleven.

Het tweede deel wordt volgende maand getoond.

“Een kunstenaar van het volk”, een gespeelde documentaire (30') van Hubert De Wulf over de Antwerpse kunstenaar Eugeen Van Mieghem die leefde begin 1900. Tientallen figuranten dienden te worden gekleed in de stijl van toen. Er werd gefilmd in de Antwerpse haven.

Woensdag 10 april 2019 en Woensdag 17 april 2019 is er dus GEEN VERGADERING om reden van het Paasverlof.

Woensdag 24 april 2019 om 20 u in ons lokaal aan de Bolwerkstraat 17 te Vilvoorde is er FILMVERGADERING met films uit de oude doos, ter gelegenheid van ons 40 jarig bestaan:

“Tuchthuis Vilvoorde”, een professioneel opgenomen film waarmee de stad Vilvoorde deelnam aan een wedstrijd met als prijs de restauratie van “Het Tuchthuis”. Uiteindelijk won dit project niet.

Leden worden uitgenodigd om een oude film mee te brengen voor projectie.

Op bezoek naar CAMERAM

Dinsdag 23 april 2019 brengen we met een beperkte delegatie een bezoek aan de Franstalige filmclub CAMERAM uit Bosvoorde.

Bracina 2019

Zondag 28 april 2019 van 9.30u tot 18.24u heeft de filmwedstrijd van Bracina plaats in kasteel “La Motte” te Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle.
Er zijn 27 films ingeschreven:

SWD (Dilbeek) doet mee met 10 films
HFT (Ternat) heeft ook 10 films
SKOOP (Leuven) heeft 5 films
VIDEOCLUB VILVOORDE heeft 2 films in wedstrijd.

De deelnemende films van onze club zijn:

10.23u: “Missie in Tokyo” van Roger Olivy.
11.15u: “Waar is mijn kasteel naartoe?” van Piet Vandenpoel.

Na de projectie van de laatste film volgt de prijsuitreiking en receptie.

GH5 - 2 YEARS LATER (well almost!) and how it changed how I work.

The GH5 is a remarkable camera. It truly is. But like a lot of camera’s there’s always one or two negative things that seem to get talked about more than the positives. The autofocus being the main issue with the GH5, that has been discussed a lot. But the GH5 remains to be one of the best ‘all round’ filmmaking cameras you can get you hands on. I think the main strengths of the GH5 are the in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) and the great formats it can shoot in. I.E. high bitrate, almost loss-less recording and high frame rates. As you’ll see in the video, the GH5 changed everything for me. Up until getting it, I was very much a static tripod style shooter, where I would take my time to compose shots. With the GH5, which I decided to keep un-rigged, I began to shoot videos more like I would shoot photos and that meant I would get a lot more shots. Of course I still used tripods and sliders etc but the majority of my work is now hand-held. Because the battery life is quite good, I don’t attach an external battery either.

Crop Factor TRUTH: Do you need Full Frame?

The same lens produces different results on cameras with different sized sensors. As a result, it can be tough to cross-shop Micro Four-Thirds, APS-C, Full Frame, and Medium Format cameras. Crop Factor is a conversion that makes it simple to determine the exact results you'll get with any given lens, regardless of your camera's sensor size. By multiplying your camera's crop factor by a lens' focal length AND aperture, you can determine the full frame equivalent angle of view, depth-of-field (background blur) and a good estimate of the low-light noise.
