Nederlandstalige documentaire dat het dramatische verhaal vertelt van de eerste beklimming van de bekendste berg van de Alpen, thans méér dan 150 jaar geleden. 

Dit is grotendeels een éénmans-productie; de beelden werden gedraaid tijdens meerdere verblijven in de Zwitserse Alpen over een periode van 3 jaar. De 56-jarige amateur-cineast Paul is een fervent (berg)wandelaar, maar geen alpinist. Om het verhaal te reconstrueren diende hij gebruik te maken van oude filmbeelden, archieffoto's en -tekeningen.
