How to Use and Read the Four Primary Video Scopes

When you’re color correcting and grading, it’s important to accurately assess your video signal. You need to know if you’re crushing the blacks in that night shot, clipping the whites in those clouds, and what exact hue and saturation that logo is. Your monitor may not be properly calibrated, so that can’t be trusted, and our eyes adapt to the image, so we can’t trust them either.
But we can trust the scopes. The scopes never lie. They can be quite intimidating, though, if you’ve never learned how to interpret them. If you get high blood pressure and a rash from opening the scopes panel in your editing software, this article will cure your scope-o-fobia.
We’ll cover the most used scopes—Waveform scopes (RGB, Luma, YC and RGB Parade), the Vector Scopes, and the Histogram—and look at practical uses of all of them.

Woensdag 13 februari 2019 om 20 uur in het Cultureel Centrum “Het Bolwerk” aan de Bolwerkstraat 17 te Vilvoorde is er FILMVERGADERING.
Op het programma staan 2 nieuwe computeranimaties van Gaston Slaets:

• “Shadows of Memories” (5')
• “Cirque de la Lune” (6')

Verder bekijken we:

• Een reportage (35'), gemaakt door Roger Deprouw, Bart Gerber en Bjarne Jakus, van een klooster in Frankrijk waar veel Belgische soldaten hun leven lieten tijdens de oorlog.
• “Le petit monde du corail” (18') van Raja Ampat.  Deze prachtige film over de onderwaterwereld werd bekroond op de nationale wedstrijd van amateurfilms in Frankrijk.
• “Momentos” (6') van Nuno Rocha. De maker van deze kortfilm slaagt er in om in zo'n kort tijdsbestek heel wat emotie op te wekken bij de toeschouwer.

Woensdag 20 februari 2019 om 20 uur in het Cultureel Centrum “Het Bolwerk” aan de Bolwerkstraat 17 te Vilvoorde is er FILMVERGADERING.
We overlopen een aantal punten die besproken werden op de onlangs door Bracina georganiseerde cursus “Découpage fictiefilm & non-fictie”.

Daarna staan volgende films op het programma:

• “Een kunstenaar van het volk”, een gespeelde documentaire (30') van Hubert De Wulf over de Antwerpse kunstenaar Eugeen Van Mieghem die leefde in het begin van vorige eeuw. Tientallen figuranten dienden te worden gekleed in de stijl van begin 1900.
• “Tuchthuis Vilvoorde”, een professioneel opgenomen film waarmee de stad Vilvoorde deelnam aan een wedstrijd met als prijs de restauratie van “Het Tuchthuis”. Uiteindelijk won dit project niet.

Filmfestival 2019

Zaterdag 23 maart 2019 van 19u tot 23u in het Auditorium van het Cultureel Centrum “Het Bolwerk” aan de Bolwerkstraat 17 te Vilvoorde.

Het wordt een filmavond met veel afwisseling en films van een uitzonderlijk hoge kwaliteit.
Op het programma staan 4 nieuwe speelfilms, 2 computeranimaties, documentaires en reportages.
De projectie gebeurt met de recent aangekochte 4K beamer.
Iedereen welkom. De inkom is gratis.
